Zen Kai is a food growing enthusiast located in Atlanta, GA. His food growing journey started in 2010 with a small garden in the side yard of his 0.2-acre urban lot. By 2011, his vegetable garden had taken over the majority of his backyard. Without room left to grow fruits, he purchased a half-acre abandoned city lot in 2012 with the dream of turning it into an orchard. It took more than six years of trial and error before he began to see appreciable progress. The increasing success of this orchard inspired him in 2020 to tackle building another orchard as part of his most recent project to convert a 2-acre property into a tiny hobby farm. When he’s not working in his orchards, tending to his vegetable garden, or hanging out with his chickens and rabbits, he writes about his adventures in small scale farming.
